Announcing the launch of our new CommunityFirst Solutions for COVID-19 website

We are excited to announce the launch of our newly re-designed micro-site. Visit us at our original domain: communityfirstcovid19.org. After months of hard work with the design and development team at Huot & Vallentin, we are delighted to officially announce the launch.

From ‘Roadmap’ to CommunityFirst Solutions

In April 2020, we co-created a step-by-step emergency readiness Roadmap with Ilisaqsivik to support the Inuit community of Clyde River, Nunavut to organize, prepare for and respond to COVID-19.

We quickly built a simple micro-site to share the Roadmap with communities globally, launching in English, Spanish and Inuktitut in May 2020, and later adding French, Portuguese and Swahili.

By the end of 2020, users from over 100 countries had accessed the Roadmap website to create COVID-19 readiness plans for their communities.

One year since the start of the pandemic, many vulnerabalized communities worldwide still lack access to basic prevention and response resources like testing, PPE and verified information about COVID-19 in their local languages. Communities remain at the forefront of COVID-19 and intersecting crises with little support from governments and institutions. In response to the continued demand by communities for community-oriented COVID-19 resources, we decided to create a more durable and adaptable platform.

New Features

Our goal with this re-designed site is to provide a more centralized way to navigate the Roadmap and to browse the Resources.

Among others, the site contains several new features:

  • • An updated CommunityFirst COVID-19 Roadmap, including new steps and resources on vaccines
  • • A re-designed Action Plan template
  • • Featured resources available under each step of the Roadmap
  • • A searchable Resource Database with categories and tags
  • • Improved translation features
  • • Case studies highlighting the adaptations already being implemented by our community partners

We are continuously updating our content with additional resources for community-level planning. The micro-site is currently available in English and Spanish, with Inuktitut, Portuguese, French and Swahili on the way. If you would like to see the Roadmap in any other language, let us know!

Please share communityfirstcovid19.org with community networks and organizations who may be interested in using this tool. Our team remains available to offer virtual support in adaptation and/or implementation, and we are always open to collaborations and new partnerships.

Thank you to the team and our network of partners and community activators for the feedback and support that made this possible.
