Report: Historic Healing Journey of Inuit TB Sanatorium Survivors
In cooperation with Nunavut Tunngavik Inc., SeeChange brought a group of Inuit TB sanatorium survivors and youths to Hamilton, Ontario in July, where more than 1,200 Inuit were treated for tuberculosis in the 1950s and 60s, often suffering from abuse and isolation. The goal of the historic trip was two-fold: to bring healing and closure to survivors and to educate younger Inuit and the Canadian public about this little-known chapter of Indigenous history.

Decoloniality, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) at SeeChange Initiative
Many DEI initiatives fail to achieve the change and social justice outcomes organizations had hoped for. Why? The root cause lies in the deep-set colonial mindset that persists both in our social systems and within each of us.

Tackling TB in Nunavut: A Night of Photos and Stories
On November 8, the SeeChange team held an event in Montreal to raise awareness about the Tuberculosis crisis in Nunavut and show how we can support Inuit communities to address their own health needs. The night was a great success, the team organized a silent auction, and was able to raise over $1500 for the project!

Make the case for child-friendly TB treatment for Inuit: challenging Canada’s double standard
Each year over 10 million people fall ill with active tuberculosis (TB). Of those, one million are children under the age of 15. Eight countries alone account for two-thirds of the TB burden: India, China, Indonesia, the Philippines, Pakistan, Nigeria, Bangladesh and South Africa.
